Ep.1: Interview with comedian Garv Malik

Updated: Jul 28, 2019

Welcome to C.H.O.R. people!

This blog space is dedicated to interviews & stories of creative artists as well as art enthusiasts from multiple art domains!

We kick start our Episode 1 with the 1st Creative Human Of Rhymly, the famous, the viral & the very humble stand up comic from Delhi “Garv Malik”, who has been writing jokes since 4 years, is a full-time comedian now & who draws his inspiration from another famous comedian “Kunal Kamra”.

So, Let’s start!

Hey Garv! Can you tell us something about yourself & your art form? (Our audience is very supportive of you but they keep very very busy so tell in only 140 characters)

Garv Malik. Stand-up Comedian. Involves going in front of strangers, telling them your life, making them laugh; and occasionally pay for it.

So, are you an accidental comedian like most others or did this career decision at least had some planning to it?

I took the worst engineering branch to ensure I needed an alternate career option. I made sure I failed a few exams to force myself to look for a backup As people started laughing at my choices, I decided to capitalize on them.

“Everything isn’t an achievement” but also “Achievement ain’t everything”. Can you tell us 3 of your biggest & most satisfying achievements?

Randomly contesting elections on the last day of college and getting 830 votes. Addressing a crowd of 12,000 and managing to get laugh waves. Convincing my parents for comedy as a career ( may have involved initially demanding drug dealer, followed by settling for comedy )

Are you moody like all other artists? If yes or no both, then reveal today the secret style of your writing?

I am moody like all other human beings. Secret style of writing is using a pilot pen, and keep writing rubbish, and wait for it to become a genius.

Do you just give humble autographs or have you had any real interesting incidences with your fans?

Someone traveled to cities just to watch my show & that too before I was famous(I’m still not famous though :p)

“The art of making money with art is bigger than the art itself”. How do you manage to monetize comedy?

Comedy sells alcohol and alcohol can buy anything; votes, ethics and even get out of jail free card in real life.

Somebody told me that a poor man cannot be a philanthropist. So, now that you earn with art, will you also help & mentor other new comedians to dream about making their art go big?

We do open mics. To test our new jokes, and give new comedians a chance to feel good about ourselves. And this because someone else was gracious enough to give us this kind of stage time in the past.

Our audience loves texting! Do you have any message for them?

Please do something better with your time!

Not trying to self-promote, or maybe I am, but then what are your thoughts on our platform Rhymly? ( You can use more than 140 characters this time :p)

Please release an iOS app. If you want to make money, target the people with money!

Finally, Our audience is insomniac & has no option but to watch videos to sleep! So, do you wanna share a link of one of your videos which is close to your heart?

So, that’s it for today guys! Please like & subscribe to Garv’s Youtube Channel & show some love to him!

We will also be back in a few days with Ep.2 with another creative person.
